How long a field hockey bracket takes
In field hockey, a tournament match of two 15-minute halves, with the break and the changeover, fits a 40-minute slot, so this page uses 40-minute slots. A knockout is the quickest way to a winner: every match removes one entry, so a field of any size needs one match fewer than its entries. Rounds still run one after another, and the early rounds are the wide ones, so the first round decides how many pitches are needed.
