What you can check before it goes out
The setup screen shows the tournament as it will run: which team is in which group, every fixture, the court and time slot of each match and, for a knockout, the bracket with its byes. A bracket for 12 teams is padded to 16, so four teams skip the first round. The preview shows which four before any team hears about it.
Read it the way a team would. Look for a team with three games in a row, a court that sits empty in the last slot, a group that is one team short, or a first-round pairing that will start an argument. It is easy to fix these now. It is harder once the link is out.
Draw rules update the preview
A knockout draw uses one of four methods: seeded, random, manual, or taken from the previous stage. Change the method, where the byes go, the bracket size or the list of entrants, and the preview redraws. You see the result without generating anything.
A random draw can be reshuffled as often as you like until it looks fair. Clear empties every place so you can fill the bracket by hand. The draw you finish with is the draw Tournamyx generates. It uses the draft in front of you, not a new one.
Fix it, then publish
Anything that looks wrong can be changed from here. Drag teams to new seeds with drag-and-drop seeding, or move games and breaks in the arrange view described under tournament scheduling.
A new event is private. Turn on its public page when you are ready, then copy the link or put the QR code on the notice board. From that point the page works as described under the live results page.
What it does not do
- The preview shows places, not winners. Later rounds show empty places, because nobody has played yet.
- It does not check rest between a team’s games. Read down each team’s column yourself.
- The knockout preview covers brackets of 4 to 64 entrants.
Questions
Can I see the schedule before the teams do?
Yes. A new event in Tournamyx is private, so only the people you have given access can open it. The public results page stays off until you switch it on, which gives you time to check the draw and fix the schedule first.
Does the final draw match the preview?
Yes. When you generate a knockout, Tournamyx uses the draft shown in the setup preview, so the first draw is the one you were looking at rather than a new random result.
Can I redo a random draw I do not like?
Yes. Before you generate, a random draw in Tournamyx can be reshuffled as many times as you want. You can also clear the bracket and place every team by hand.
