Printable tournament score sheet for every match, A4 or Letter
A score sheet is the paper record of one match: who played, the score, the winner and a signature from each side. Pick one score or set by set, add your fixtures if you have them, and print two to a page on A4 or Letter.
Add the court and time after a comma. Leave it empty for blank numbered sheets.
Choose “Save as PDF” as the destination for a file. Leave scale at 100% so the sheets keep their size.
8 matches · 9 sheets · 5 pages · A4

Field guide
What a tournament score sheet needs
A score sheet is the paper record of one match. It answers the questions that come up at the results desk: which match was it, where and when, who played, what was the score, who won, and did both sides agree. Each sheet here carries a match number, a court, a time, both team names, a score box for each side, a winner line and three signature lines.
The signatures do the real work. A result a captain has signed is much harder to dispute an hour later, and it is what you point to if the standings are challenged. Keep every sheet until your protest window has closed. The rules template has a clause for that window, and the walkovers guide covers what to write on a sheet when a team does not turn up.
Fill in as much as you can before printing. If you paste fixtures with a court and a time, the only handwriting left on the day is the score. In a knockout the teams are not known yet, so type “Winner of match 9” on the team line and the sheet exists before the teams do.
One score, or set by set
Use one score for football, futsal, basketball, netball and hockey, where a match ends on a single number for each side. Use set by set for volleyball, badminton, tennis and table tennis, where a match is a run of sets and the tie-break order often depends on set and point ratios.
A set ratio or a points ratio cannot be worked out from sets won alone, which is why the set layout has a box for every set as well as a total. The volleyball guide and the table tennis guide both list a tie-break order worth publishing before the first match.
How many score sheets to print
Print one sheet per match plus 10% spares, rounded up. The spares cover spoiled sheets, replays and a third-place match. The match count formulas show where a match total comes from, and the table below does the arithmetic for four common events.
Sheets to print
| Event | Matches | Sheets with 10% spares | Pages at 2 per page |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 teams, round robin | 28 | 31 | 16 |
| 8 teams, two groups of four into semi-finals and a final | 15 | 17 | 9 |
| 16 teams, four groups of four into a knockout | 31 | 35 | 18 |
| 24 teams, six groups of four into a knockout | 47 | 52 | 26 |
A4, Letter and getting a clean print
Pick the paper your printer holds. A4 and US Letter differ by about a centimetre in height, so a sheet sized for one is cropped or shrunk on the other. The page sets the paper size in the print dialog for you.
Two to a page is the default and suits most events: each sheet is half a page, large enough to write on and cheap to print. One to a page suits long team names or five-set matches. Four to a page saves paper at a large event but leaves little room to write.
Leave the scale at 100% in the print dialog. Choose “Save as PDF” as the destination if you want a file to send to a print shop, and the sheets keep their layout.
What a paper score sheet cannot do
It records a result. It does not update a table. Someone still has to enter every sheet, and at a big event that is where the leaderboard falls behind. At the 406-team IIUM Robotic Competition the slow part was never the fields. It was sheets walking from the floor to the judges’ table.
Tournamyx Scores prints the same kind of sheet for every match from your schedule, with the match, field and teams already on it, and lets scorers enter the result from a phone at the court, so standings update as the match ends. Events up to 8 players are free.

What should a tournament score sheet include?
Match number, court, time, both team names, a score for each side, the winner, and a signature from each team and the referee. A line for how a level match was decided is worth adding for knockouts.
How many score sheets should I print?
One per match plus 10%, rounded up. A 16-team group stage into a knockout is 31 matches, so print 35 sheets, which is 18 pages at two to a page.
Can I fill in the teams and courts before printing?
Yes. Paste one fixture per line, such as “Falcons v Sharks, Court 2, 10:30”, and each sheet prints with the match number, teams, court and time already filled in.
Does it work for volleyball, badminton and tennis?
Yes. Choose set by set, then three or five sets. Each set gets its own box on both sides, so a set or points ratio tie-break can be worked out from the sheet.
Is the score sheet A4 or US Letter?
Either. It starts on Letter if your browser language is US or Canadian English, Philippine English or Filipino, and on A4 otherwise. You can switch it, and the print dialog is set to the same size.
Is the printable score sheet free?
Yes, with no account and no email. It runs in your browser and nothing is saved or uploaded. Each sheet carries a small Tournamyx label in its header.
