How the NBA playoff bracket is built
Sixteen teams make the playoffs, eight from each conference, and the bracket is fixed from the start. In the first round the 1 seed plays the 8 seed, the 4 seed plays the 5 seed, the 3 seed plays the 6 seed and the 2 seed plays the 7 seed. The winner of 1 against 8 then meets the winner of 4 against 5, and the winner of 3 against 6 meets the winner of 2 against 7. Nothing is reseeded between rounds, which is why the template can lay the whole path out at once.
Every round is a best-of-seven series, and 15 series are needed to find one champion. A series ends at four wins, so the whole postseason is between 60 games, if every series is a sweep, and 105 games, if every series goes to seven. Real years land in between.

Where the play-in fits
Seeds 1 to 6 in each conference qualify directly. Seeds 7 to 10 play the play-in to decide the 7 and 8 seeds: the 7th and 8th place teams play, and the winner takes the 7 seed. The loser plays the winner of the 9th against 10th game for the 8 seed. The template does not play those games. It holds East 7, East 8, West 7 and West 8 as open slots, so rename them once the play-in is over.
Using the template for your own league
The fixed 16-team path suits any league that wants two halves meeting in a final. Because the demo advances whoever has the higher number, you can enter a series result as games won, or as any score you like. If your league plays single games instead of series, enter the game score the same way.
Does the NBA bracket template reseed after each round?
No. The Tournamyx NBA playoff template follows the NBA’s fixed bracket: the 1 and 8 winner always meets the 4 and 5 winner, and the 2 and 7 winner always meets the 3 and 6 winner. Nothing is reseeded between rounds.
How do I enter a best-of-seven series?
Type the games each team won, for example 4 and 3. The Tournamyx template sends the team with more wins to the next round. It stores one result per series and does not track the individual games.
Can I run this bracket live for my league?
